Professor Dwairy, som är bosatt i övre Nasaret, är också ordförande för den arabisk-israeliska organisationen Adalah – Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel.
Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network skriver följande om professor Dwairys arbete:
“Professor Dwairy has published tens of academic articles and books. His most recent book is “Psychotherapy for Arabs and Muslims,” which was published in English by Columbia University in the United States. He is currently heading an international research team that is conducting research into the relationship between different kinds of family upbringing and the psychological well-being of children in nine countries around the world.
In his academic writings Professor Dwairy critically analyses common Western theories of psychology and reveals their shortcomings and occasionally the damage they cause when applied in Eastern-collective communities. He also develops theories and methods of treatment that are sensitive to cultural background, given that the vast majority of peoples in the world live in Eastern-collective communities. Because of his contribution in this field, he has been invited to a large number of international conferences to present on the theories and methods of treatment that he has developed.”
